The Chinese people can always count on the support of the Cuban Revolution, said the island's Foreign Minister.

"China and Cuba are united in a common path of revolutionary struggle to achieve full independence and sovereignty, facing aggression of all kinds," said Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, member of the Political Bureau and Cuban foreign minister, on Thursday during his speech at the ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese aggression and the global anti-fascist war.

The Birán ceremony sets the tone for 12 months of commemorations leading to August 13, 2026.

Under the shade of century-old carob and cedar trees that once sheltered his birth, Cuba launched nationwide commemorations for what would have been Fidel Castro's 100th birthday during an emotional ceremony Wednesday at the revolutionary leader's birthplace.

These remarks come amid increasing pressure from Washington against Cuba's medical cooperation initiatives.

Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and Minister of Foreign Affairs, today condemned threats made by the U.S. Secretary of State against countries maintaining legitimate medical cooperation programs with the island.
