Teatro Tuyo celebrates its 24th birthday

"The real success of Teatro Tuyo lies in having planted and made grow, in a desert land, a leafy tree of noses,” that's how Omar Valiño summed up some years ago the immeasurable work of our theatrical group, which this January 15 celebrates its 24th birthday.

Invited by the Provincial Council of the Performing Arts of Holguín and the direction of the cultural sector in the City of Parks, the fellowship has shared workshops, courses, conferences, and artistic presentations there during these days.

In his Facebook account, Ernesto Parra (leader of "Los Tuyos") declared the day before: "Today has been a day of emotions and exchanges of experiences, where new joint projects have been born between the Holguín Puppeter Theater, the Palabras al Viento oral narration company, and Teatro Tuyo."

Teatro Tuyo celebrates its 24th birthdayThe Eddy Suñol Theater hosted last night Charivari, a play that has several garnishes, honoring the etymological meaning of that word coming from the folklore of a rural area of France, which translates as racket, revelry, noise, and stridency.

This afternoon, on the other hand, "Los Tuyos" will present Parque de Sueños (Dreams Park), a piece that opened the celebrations of the current name day in Las Tunas (before the tour to the sister land), and also accompanied the exercise of professional evaluation as clown actresses of the young Dayana Leonardo Rondón, Arisleydis Domínguez, and Bexy María Pérez Platt.

Upon their return tomorrow, the group will join the program of activities of the Jornada Villanueva, which starts today at the Balcón de Oriente and will last until January 22, Cuban Theater Day.

In this regard, Parra said at a press conference: "Next Sunday, in the act, that as usual, we do during the morning, in the Plaza Martiana, the first public presentation of the nine students who are currently part of the National School of Clown will take place. This will be the first time they will go out to the streets with their costumes, with their characters, in search of interacting with the people. There they will present the performance “Se regalan abrazos”. And we also want to involve the children of the company, who aspire to be students of our school."

Teatro Tuyo celebrates its 24th birthdayHowever, he considered it necessary to clarify that "even though we have gone to another province as part of the celebrations for the 24th birthday, I do want to emphasize that many years ago our group did not feel so much presence, so much support, so much approach from the Performing Arts Council in Las Tunas, and its president in particular (Lisandra Hernandez Gonzalez). Today we feel loved and supported; that is the meaning of cultural institutions, that artists feel that we are taken into account."

Despite the contingencies experienced in recent years due to COVID-19, the energy situation, and other obstacles, which greatly affected public presentations in the country, Teatro Tuyo has always sought ways to make its dreams, goals, and red noses germinate, because (as Papote once said to 26) "in the end, it's not words that speak, but work."
