Soul Flowers Poetry Festival in Las Tunas

With the theoretical panel "Los cromatismos de la poesía" (Chromatisms in Poetry), the Flores del Alma Poetry Festival (Soul Flowers) began early this week, which pays tribute to the text of the same name, the first book printed in the province by Manuel Agustín Nápoles Fajardo (brother of El Cucalambé, who used the pseudonym Sanlope).

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Maritza Batista Batista, writer, and panelist, commented on the importance of this moment of exchange and promotion. "Chromatisms in poetry is a very comprehensive, important, and useful theme for the man and the poet who reflects the objective and subjective world through his creation; in my presentation, I refer to color and polychrome. Flores del Alma has extraordinary importance because it reminds us that 163 years ago the first book of Las Tunas was published; this date is not only to celebrate the poets, this date should be a celebration for all the people of Las Tunas."

Recitals, trova, workshops, and theoretical panels make up the program of activities, which as always is a space for exchange for writers, poets, and troubadours of the province. In addition, Mariela Pérez Castro, writer, broadcaster, and scriptwriter from Camagüey, will close the day on Friday with a workshop entitled "La pasión por la poesía" (Passion for Poetry).

The Soul Flowers event concludes the celebrations of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba in the territory in honor of its foundation, which took place on 22 August 1961.
