Cuban Hero Antonio GuerreroCuban hero Antonio Guerrero recommends reading "What lies across the sea," by Stephen Kimber, after the film "Wasp Network" was premiered on television in this country.

Havana, Cuba.- On his Twitter account, Guerrero highlights the positive reaction, reflected in a large number of comments and suggestions, after seeing the film, to read the book that contains the true history of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters, considered by them the most comprehensive and factual.

The volume was launched in Havana in 2017, during the 25th edition of the Havana International Book Fair.

The Cuban Five, as Guerrero, Gerardo Hernández, René González, Ramón Labañino and Fernando González are known internationally, were arrested in 1998 in the United States and sentenced to long prison terms for alerting their country (Cuba) -during the 1990s- of plans by violent groups based in South Florida.

Regarding the premiere this year by Netflix of the film "Wasp Network," by French director Olivier Assayas, René González also reflected on Twitter a few months ago about the destruction of the lie, while Guerrero warned a few hours ago that the plans to attack Cuba are still in force.

The film is inspired on real events that hegemonic media have tried to deny for years.

The film was premiered in Cuba in December 2019, during the 41st edition of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema and the Cuban Five were applauded at Yara cinema, in Havana, by a national and foreign audience that thanked them for their courage; even though the film is not enough to show the whole story.

The film, starring Spanish actress Penélope Cruz, Mexican actor Gael García Bernal, Venezuela's Edgar Ramírez and Brazil's Wagner Moura, among others, was co-produced by France, Spain, Belgium and Brazil.

The movie was also screened in 2019 during the 76th edition of the Venice International Film Festival. (PL)
