UNEAC celebrates its 60th anniversary

The Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) celebrates its 60th birthday this year and several activities are designed in Las Tunas, aimed at not overlooking the anniversary.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- With the slogan Strength is in the Union, a campaign is promoted that prioritizes, especially, the tribute to the founders. The program includes allegorical audiovisuals about the work of the membership. From now on until the end of August, initiatives will be shared, which are intended to be carried out simultaneously in person and online.

Thus, the virtual platforms will serve as a support for the dissemination of works by plastic artists, musicians, writers and other creators. Meanwhile, radio and television will broadcast special programs such as Punto de giro (Turning Point(, broadcast by the provincial radio station Radio Victoria.

Las Tunas UNEAC branchLeonardo Fuentes Caballín, head of the Plastic Arts section of the Provincial Committee of UNEAC, reported that a pictorial sample is being prepared, with works inspired by texts by women writers from Las Tunas, plus the Digital Art Saloon, which seeks to revitalize this contemporary expression in the territory.

Other activities are the realization of a theatrical critics workshop and the Puertas Adentro trova space. Poetic recitals also make up the agenda and the award of the Antonio Borrego literary contest, which promotes the composition of sonnets and remembers one of the unforgettable authors of this land.

On the other hand, the theatrical event Sus Huellas will honor Dionne Pérez, a leading figure in that artistic expression here, who has physically disappeared. And the defense of Cuban identity values through the socialization of investigations will be another action, promoted by the Nicolás Guillén Foundation.

Likewise, the usual activities of the provincial headquarters of the organization and the municipal committee of Puerto Padre will honor the 60 years of the organization.
