With these recognitions, the province honored August 22nd, the date on which we remember the first radio broadcast in Cuba

On Friday afternoon, the ceremony for the 98th anniversary of Cuban Radio, which is celebrated on August 22, was held in the Major General Vicente García memorial museum, where several media professionals in the province were recognized.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Among those honored are Radio Libertad colleagues Jorge Luis Rodríguez Pupo, 2020 National Radio Award winner and Rosa María Ramírez, recently awarded with the interview Sofía Valentina: for the sake of living in the 26 de Julio National Journalism Contest. Yaidel Rodríguez, from Radio Cabaniguán, who obtained a mention in that contest, was also recognized.

Manuel Pérez Gallego and Jaime Chiang Vega, president and vice president of the Provincial Defense Council, respectively; Adalys Ray, president of the Cuban Union of Journalists in the province; as well as officials from the Union of Young Communists (UJC), the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba, the Culture sector and others, attended the celebration.

Anier Arnedo Sánchez, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Young Communists League (UJC), conferred the Youth for Life Condition to novice reporters whose work between microphones during programming in times of pandemic has been significant. For its part, the Provincial Radio Directorate also encouraged other professionals with outstanding work in support of broadcastings during the confrontation with the COVID-19.

Likewise, the groups of the dramatized Caso Cerrado (Closed Case) and Hoy por Hoy magazine, directed by Wílber Antonio Díaz and Julián Velázquez, respectively, as well as directors of the Balcón de Oriente radio stations received awards. The reporter Edelmis Cruz Rodríguez was the recipient of the Seal 95 Aniversario de la Radio Cubana.

Aliuska Barrios, provincial director of the Radio stations network, took over the main speech of the event, in which she made explicit the commitment to increase the impact of the media every day, taking into account its informative, cultural and orientation functions, together with entertainment and participation of the audience.
