The Minister of Education, Naima Trujillo Barreto, led a meeting with sector executives and training organizations, to evaluate the preparations for the 2024-2025 school year in Las Tunas.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- "This territory has previously achieved outstanding work. With the coverage of the teaching staff, the implementation of new indicators in terms of quality and improvement is expected. We were also evaluating entrance to Higher Education; so, we reiterate, the teachers’ demand on students is important," the minister said.
During the meeting, information was provided on the assurances for the next school year in all municipalities, and compliance with the Ministry of Education (MINED) guidelines at the different levels.

General Education in Las Tunas: New Goals to Achieve
Trujillo Barreto stressed the need to pay special attention to boarding students and educational institutions in rural areas. She highlighted the importance of community collaboration in facing these challenges.
Accompanied by her team, the minister reviewed initiatives for cultural decolonization, preventive work, and actions related to computerizing education in schools. The meeting also discussed strategies for improving the teaching of the English language.
Several key tasks were detailed concerning the priorities for the new school year. During the dialogue, the local authorities of the sector reaffirmed their commitment, together with the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) and the Government, to guarantee the quality of the teaching-learning process. To this end, they urged the active participation of all social actors.
At the close of the exchange, the minister called on the educators of Las Tunas to improve the training requirements to ensure the success of the educational teaching process.
The meeting concluded with a recognition of the work of the educators and support staff in this eastern province, highlighting their dedication and commitment to education.
