The University of Las Tunas, responsible for training many professionals in the territory, is highly committed to food production; proof of this is the Master's Degree in Agricultural Sciences, with five editions completed and the sixth beginning this September.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- These postgraduate studies are added to the Agronomy Engineering degree, in an effort to train specialists in agricultural activity. Together, they support the strategy of economic and social development, in terms of increasing production.
Sc. Dr. Noiry Pérez Pompa, coordinator of the Academic Committee of the Master's Degree, acknowledged that scientific education also works the furrow as students acquire the skills to make the most of the land, through knowledge.
He added that the academic program - certified by the national accreditation board since January 2017 - contributes to the permanent training of a professional with the capacity to develop in the agricultural field and integrate the main advances in producing food and raw materials for industry.
He said that, over the years, many of the graduates of previous editions have remained in key management responsibilities, both in the delegations of the Ministry of Agriculture and in the National Association of Small Farmers and other entities.
Pérez Pompa added that the graduates include private producers and usufructuaries, who have completed the master's degree and made significant contributions to food production thanks to their theoretical and practical research on different crops.
With a duration of three years and an excellent teaching staff, the research lines of this 6th edition will be related to sustainable agriculture and rural development.
