In a context where adolescence continues to be a stage full of questions, challenges, and silences, Teen Diary emerges as a new adventure. The launch of this publishing project took place in Las Tunas last week. The publication is part of the Decide Your Game campaign, which focuses on promoting comprehensive health and encouraging learning and appropriate decision-making during this important stage.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- The original idea came from the province of Santiago de Cuba, as an initiative of a group of teenagers from that area. At first, the diary was a smaller version, like a pocket diary. After two editions, the third was born, which has now been placed in the hands of some people from Las Tunas.
The presentation was led by Raidel Bejerano Balmaceda, provincial coordinator of the Youth and Adolescent Network; Xiomara Mercantete Rodríguez, specialist in the Educational Component of Sexual and Reproductive Health; Dr. Doris Fornaris, coordinator of the sexual and reproductive health project in the municipality of Las Tunas; and Camila Gómez Zamora, a prominent promoter in this city.
“We want young people to see themselves reflected in these pages and find answers to their questions. This newspaper is a safe space to explore what it means to grow up in Cuba today,” said Bejerano Balmaceda during the launch at the Tunas Theater.
In addition to informative articles, the newspaper will include interactive sections, such as puzzles and reflections, which will help to better understand the rights, options, and responsibilities of all those children who are going through this difficult and complex stage of life, in which there will be more questions than answers.
In times when information can become confusing due to an excess of data on the internet, this valuable publication is committed to clarity, sensitivity, and respect, because caring for adolescents is not just about protecting them; it is about listening to them, educating them, and trusting in their ability to transform the present.
