The Ernesto Guevara de la Serna General Teaching Hospital reached the 43rd anniversary of its foundation on June 14 with one hundred percent vitality of its services, despite the complex economic scenario faced by the country, which objectively affects such a sensitive sector as Public Health.

Its collective, led by Dr. Marianela Zapata Romero, commemorates this anniversary with the closing of a semester that exhibits all indicators within the national average and an infant mortality rate among the best in the country.

In the scarcity of resources, Zapata Romero added, and with an emphasis on recent times, the "Guevara" has had the support of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) and the local government, especially the Cuba-Italy Friendship Association that from the area of Lombardy have supported with donations to institutions in the province for more than 20 years.
