Cuban Health Minister, Dr. José Ángel Portal, visited the main hospital in Las Tunas.

Dr. José Ángel Portal Miranda, Cuban Minister of Public Health, was interested in the challenges, regarding medical care, to raise the quality of health services in line with the objective needs of the Las Tunas population, during his exchange with the board of directors of the Dr. Ernesto Guevara de la Serna General Teaching Hospital.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The minister urged the workers of the main hospital institution in the province to commit to improving care and indicators, and reflected on the responsibility with the training of future Health personnel, taking into account that they are the largest teaching scenario attached to the University of Medical Sciences in the province.

He emphasized that they must focus on the best use of human resources and the implementation of strategies that contribute to the quality of patients’ care.
"We chose a profession of total dedication, and Public Health needs personnel committed to the task of saving lives and an example in their actions, starting with its main leaders," said the minister.

He also confirmed that in the current context, in which the impact of the economic blockade on the sector is evident, solutions based on scientific contributions are imposed to ensure the stability of benefits. He called not to allow insensitivity, irresponsibility, and negligence.

As a farewell, the minister left his signature and his considerations in the book of the "Guevara" History Hall, which jealously guards the imprint of the most illustrious visits to the institution.
