Havana, Cuba.- According to scientific literature, dengue is an acute infection caused by a virus that can affect any age group.

There are four different kinds of dengue virus and the dengue hemorrhagic fever is its most serious manifestation. In fact, the same person can develop the disease four times, each of them due to a different variety of the virus.

Dengue causes severe flu-like symptoms of high fever, muscle pains and headache, chills, nausea, and vomiting.

Dengue is widespread throughout the tropics, but lately, it is increasingly found in urban areas, becoming a serious public health problem, along with Zika and Chikungunya.

The Surveillance and Vector Control Direction at the Cuban Ministry of Public Health recalled that the only method to control or prevent that dengue virus is spread is to fight the mosquito vectors known as Aedes aegypti, whose capacity for adaptation and resistance is high. (PL)
