The Las Tunas University of Medical Sciences, a long-standing leader in the training of new health professionals in this eastern province, reaffirms its commitment to the well-being of the population with a robust enrollment of 904 students and a strategic vision for the teaching and educational process."

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Dr. Rabiel Cárdenas Peña, Head of the Department of Teaching and Research in the Province, explained to the 26 that, based on various exploratory studies that provided data on the training needs of future physicians, a new academic period begins with great prospects.

"This 2025-2026 academic year, four health-related programs are offered: Medicine with 432 students; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, 208; Health Technologies and Advanced Technical Studies with 264 students, respectively," said Dr. Cárdenas.

He also highlighted that 28 medical and five nursing specialties are taught. The institution is also strengthening its faculty through diploma courses, master's degrees, and doctorates, to ensure comprehensive and up-to-date training.

Dr. Cárdenas affirmed that the teaching process, rather than quantitative aspects, emphasizes a qualitatively superior course.
