This week, in the municipality of Las Tunas, Comprehensive Sexuality Education workshops are being held at several schools, an initiative aimed at preventing teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), violence, and drug use among young people.

La Tunas, Cuba.- The workshops are led by multidisciplinary teams composed of specialists from ProSalud, the Youth Network for Life, psychologists from each health department, and toxicology specialist Alejandro Mestre. This composition allows each topic to be addressed from different perspectives —health, psychological, social, and preventive— ensuring a more comprehensive education tailored to the needs of adolescents.

The activities have taken place at the Máximo Gómez and Vicente García Secondary School (ESBU in Spanish), and the Luis Urquiza Jorge Vocational Preuniversity Institute of Exact Sciences (IPVCE in Spanish), among others, and have been well received by students and teachers. For the remainder of the week, the workshops will be extended to other schools in the municipality, thereby expanding their reach to a larger number of young people.

Comprehensive Sexuality Education is a fundamental tool for the healthy development of adolescents. During a stage marked by physical, emotional, and social changes, having accurate information and specialized guidance enables young people to make responsible decisions about their health and relationships.

La Tunas demonstrates its commitment to the comprehensive education of future generations, championing an educational approach that also promotes values of respect, equality, and self-care.
