Having put into operation a new and spacious Information Center at Dr. Ernesto Guevara de la Serna General Teaching Hospital, in this city, in the heat of confrontation with COVID-19, highlights the efforts of Public Health in Las Tunas to offer greater comfort to the population, although details remain to be solved.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The facility led the transformations that the hospital center undertook in the investment process for more than a year, and it came to resolve a historical demand of the population, especially the families of patients who often had to stay under the sun and serene on the outskirts of the center.

The facility exceeded 100,000 pesos in expenses, according to the institution's Investment Department, and consists of two rooms with armchairs, balance sheets, television, and refrigerators, as well as fully furnished restrooms.

Also, the final conceptions of the space included the remodeling and repair of an area near this place that today functions as a waiting park, which also provides greater comfort to those who watch over the health status of their relatives.

However, the positive response offered by the center is cloudy today due to problems with the audio used in the transmission of messages or informative parts, Yuliet Fandiño Cartaya, integral health assistant in the "Guevara," said.

The equipment is constantly broken and it is exhausting to leave the information booth up to 10 times a day to get the message to the relatives who are waiting for some news from their family, she added.

Ana Domínguez Domínguez, a services worker, said that the change is undeniable, because before there were no conditions and people had to practically camp in the gardens and areas surrounding the hospital, but there are still debts in terms of comfort and better functioning.

Another worker, Bismar Guerra Morales, a security and protection guard, said that some ventilation equipment and telephones are no longer in operation, which creates discomfort in the population.

In an epidemiological context as complex as the one that COVID-19 marks today, those who work there express that there are no basic sanitary requirements to prevent contagion, in addition to that there are no adequate conditions for health professionals to offer the interviews with relatives of hospitalized patients.

When the country is committed to demolishing conformism, the Guevara Hospital Information Center deserves a review of these issues to enjoy total vitality and welcome by the people, and the quality of the service corresponds to the investment effort made by the province.
