Puerto Padre’s government indicated to strengthen the measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19

Tuesday, the Government in the municipality of Puerto Padre, in Las Tunas, gave new details about the reorganization of services at the Guillermo Domínguez Hospital, which - from this week - will begin to care for COVID-19 high-risk suspected patients and those with acute respiratory infections from the hole province; at the same time, indications were given to strengthen epidemiological surveillance in neighborhoods and rural communities.

Puerto Padre, Las Tunas.- From its official website, the Puerto Padres authorities detailed that only the imminent emergency surgical interventions, the emergency consultation of Psychiatry, and the Hemodialysis service will remain at the “Guillermo Domínguez.”

Meanwhile, they added, the Emergencies service for Surgery, Orthopedics, Obstetrics, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, and Internal Medicine will be at the Romárico Oro polyclinic. The hospitalization services of all clinical and surgical specialties, including Maternity, moved to the Dr. Ernesto Guevara General Teaching Hospital, in the city of Las Tunas.

Likewise, they said, the fever patients ward was established in the Rowing School, and the non-urgent surgical activity, at the "Ernesto Guevara", of Las Tunas. The Pathological Anatomy laboratory will be located at the Romárico Oro polyclinic; and the Blood Bank, at the extraction point and the Raymundo Castro pediatric hospital. The rest of the outpatient consultations will be at the Pioneers Palace and the Romárico Oro polyclinic.

The source reported that the president of the Municipal Assembly of the People's Power in Puerto Padre, and deputy to Parliament, Roberto Cabrera Sao, addressed a letter to the district delegates indicating to strengthen the measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In his orientations, Cabrera Sao stressed the urgency of strengthening the work of the family doctor and nurse offices “in cohesion with community workgroups, so that “joint actions are drawn up.” Also, he emphasized the need to further reinforce self-sufficiency and food production, and attention to basic services.

Puerto Padre accumulates 93 cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, of which 49 are autochthonous. It is the second municipality with the most positives, only surpassed by the provincial capital.
