Health workers lead 2022 May Day parade in Las Tunas

More than 21,000 members of the Health sector lead the 2022 May Day parade, on International Workers' Day, in fair recognition of the consecration and delivery of that great “army in white coats” during the confrontation with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Dr. Henry López, director of the Dr. Ernesto Guevara General Teaching Hospital, the main health institution in the province, said they arrive at the ephemerid with the commitment to continue raising the quality of medical care and the satisfaction of showing better results in the Maternal and Child Program than the past calendar.

Likewise, he said, pride for the young people who have been on the front line of confrontation with the COVID-19 is growing, and for the rest of the staff, protagonists of this battle that has allowed maintaining epidemiological stability in the territory. "We will continue to set an example of solidarity, discipline, and responsibility of health workers."

Among the achievements also stand out the high life expectancy and the completion of the Family Doctor and Nurse offices.

Karianna Pérez Rodríguez, secretary of the Provincial Bureau of the National Union of Health, Science, and Sports Workers, explained that the labor groups have prepared to receive the anniversary with generational meetings, sports activities, and actions to highlight the performance of internationalists and women.

There are many motivations for health personnel to return to the Mayor General Vicente García González Revolution Plaza this May Day. Meanwhile, facing the challenges with the will to maintain Public Health as one of the main achievements of a Revolution that has always defended the rights of workers gains strength.
