Unemployment has increased in Las Tunas

The little progress in the creation of new jobs and the low level of insurance in the entities to face the processes of interruption and approved labor availability has caused the number of people laid off or out of their jobs without salary guarantees has increased in the province of Las Tunas.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Hence, the Provincial Directorate of Labor and Social Security implements a plan of measures to achieve better use of labor resources and increase productivity and business efficiency.

In each of the municipalities, the offer of idle land is disclosed for delivery in usufruct to interested parties, the comprehensive employment approach is systematically evaluated, and access to non-state work is promoted and facilitated for the population, as part of the updating of the new economic actors, and the application of the regulation on distance work and teleworking is controlled, to promote the use of this type of employment.

The demands of the economy for the training and distribution of the qualified labor force are also coherently articulated at the municipal level, with investment processes and local development strategies, and the mechanisms to establish the organization of the salary system of state workers are readjusted in a decentralized manner, without the obligation to apply the single salary scale.

This year, the local development programs should generate 479 new jobs in the state sector, in the production of food, construction materials, and various productions; while other positions are offered in investment processes.

The Labor Directorate has diagnosed 3,918 people who have been separated from study and work and who are interested in joining, and another 138 in a situation of vulnerability.

Although the total job needs identified by the municipal labor departments were not covered, by the end of 2022 the job placement of 8,330 people was reached, of which 5,771 were young people and 2,345 were women, hired in the state sector and self-employed.
