In the main station of Las Tunas, the intention is to recover the waiting area for the boarding of passengers to the eight municipalities of the territory and adjacent provinces, in the section occupied by the Intermunicipal Bus Terminal.

Las Tunas, Cuba - George Leyva Caballero, head of the Terminal Complex, commented exclusively to the Cuban News Agency that after several years in a state of notable deterioration due to some determining factors such as humidity, it was impossible to maintain in use more than half of the building where state vehicles and private carriers are positioned, so it was decided to limit entry.

Faced with the obstacle of access to certain areas of the building to avoid accidents caused by collapse, the management of the premises decided to remove the French tile roof and begin passenger-loading operations again on the platforms while waiting for a renovated and safe roof.

At this moment we already have the regulation and approval of the Heritage Office and we only need the analysis of the local government, which has shown interest and concern for the current conditions of the terminal; once the project is approved and financed, we will begin the total recovery of the platform, which is the priority, said Leyva Caballero.

Some 15 million pesos are expected to be spent on this project, which will involve the general replacement of roofs and columns, bathrooms, offices, and ticket offices, as well as the elimination of architectural barriers, in a design that respects historical and heritage values.

Day after day, hundreds of travelers from Las Tunas and other localities arrive at this emblematic point of the city's hustle and bustle, making it urgent and urgent to rescue one of the places that, due to its social impact, mark the comings and goings of locals and visitors.
