Sewing machines have not stopped after the arrival of raw materials

Guaranteeing more than 192 thousand school uniforms for the start of the 2023-2024 school year next September in Las Tunas is the main goal that keeps the workers of the Melissa Clothing Base Business Unit (UEB, by its Spanish acronym) in constant bustle these days.

Las Tunas, Cuba- Sewing machines have not stopped in the six workshops located in several municipalities of the province after the arrival of raw materials for the manufacture of the garments, which will also be destined for the province of Matanzas.

"We are currently dealing with the union of each of the pieces, after having cut them, which will initially guarantee the first grades at the various levels of teaching," said Ana América Escalona Sánchez, head of the entity's business group, exclusively to the Cuban News Agency.

Several strategies have been implemented to achieve this goal, from postponing vacations to working extra hours, which has facilitated the gradual delivery of the garments to the Ministry of Interior (MINCIN) and the Provincial Company of Supply and Services to Education (EPASE).
We must highlight the support we received from some national and local entities, among which the accompaniment of the Cuban Women's Federation (FMC) and the Puntox Clothing Company, of Havana, has been significant, said Escalona Sánchez.

In addition to this mission, the UEB, which is part of the BOGA Textile Clothing Group, does not neglect orders from other clients, such as the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) and the Camilo Cienfuegos Military School System (EMCC); as well as the production of mosquito nets and other items for their sale to the population.

Las Tunas is the only province that will start the new school year in September, so Melissa Clothing will finish the school production for its later sale in the retail network.
