The QR codes are one of the options for electronic payment through digital platforms.

More than 80 percent of commercial and gastronomic establishments in Las Tunas have the necessary digital conditions to facilitate electronic payment services, a reality that converges in seven of the eight municipalities, except for Jesús Menéndez, in the north of the province.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The Business Group of Commerce in the territory is working on the implementation of new platforms for virtual purchases of the regulated family shopping basket and on the development of the infrastructure that will allow full access through EnZona and Transfermóvil.

Jorge Luis Nieves Fournier, a communications and marketing specialist at the entity, told the Cuban News Agency that in the places reached by the wireless network, the basic means necessary for these practices have been installed, and today there are more than 900 institutions.

The implementation of digital gateways began to take hold in the sector in 2021 with the provision of QR codes in warehouses, construction materials stores, ideal, artisanal, and industrial markets, as well as in gastronomic centers, with marked acceptance in restaurants and cafeterias.

"In the case of the warehouses, we have a network of 693 in Las Tunas, and of these only about a hundred do not have this service, those located in "Jesús Menéndez", since we are waiting for the approval of the codes from the capital of the country," said Nieves Fournier.

"There are several advantages that the client should be aware of, added the communicator, such is the case of the three percent discount on basic basket payments, which, although it may seem very small, will always be a saving for users and, in addition, gives priority when making purchases."

Another variant that is part of the current context is the creation of extra cash dispensers for cash withdrawals up to five thousand pesos per person, an amount that varies depending on the commercial flows of the premises where it is located.

The development of e-commerce has allowed an overall income of about 15 million pesos from January to date, a small figure for the strategic objectives of the Cuban economy, but it shows a rise in the digitalization of the sector and, therefore, in the acceptance of customers.
