The Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) handed over the Barrio (Neighborhood) Prize for the year 2020 to the Luis Urquiza Jorge Vocational Pre-University Institute of Exact Sciences (IPVCE).
Las Tunas, Cuba.- "The CDRs were born to be eternal", these were the opening words of the act in which two students who, representing our province, participated in international competitions and obtained medals, were recognized.
The twelfth-grade student Pedro Pablo Álvarez Portelles, from the center, who won a bronze medal in the International Computer Science Contest, received recognition from Nílser Piñeda Cruz, provincial director of Education.
Marbelis Mir Corrales, a member of the executive bureau of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in the province, handed it over to Liúber Alfredo Ramírez Cárdenas, from the La Posta High School in the municipality of Majibacoa, who reached second place in the international contest Children for Friendship on the Planet, organized by the Belarusian Ministry of Education.
At the event, Antonio Ángel Martínez del Monte, a member of the CDR provincial secretariat, read the resolution that accredits awarding the Barrio Prize in favor of the “Luis Urquiza.”
Maygualida Ortega Espinosa, director of the educational institution, said after receiving the award “our house of studies is honored with this award which is not a simple recognition, but the symbolic value with which our center will continue its educational work, delivering men of science to the Revolution.”
