The Biofactory has an installed capacity of  500 thousand vitro plants per year

With the purpose of promoting the development of agricultural biotechnology, the Biofactory that ventures into the propagation of various species such as plantain, banana, pineapple, yam, taro, eucalyptus, is rescued; and - depending on the needs of the territory - could introduce the production of potato, sugar cane, rice, garlic, and ornamental vitroplants. 

The Biofactory has an installed capacity of  500 thousand vitro plants per yearLas Tunas, Cuba.- The Biofactory has undergone several rehabilitation processes since its set up in 1992. The current investment amounting to 108 thousand pesos conceived the variation of the design of its premises, in order to propitiate the conditions for good development of in vitro cultures.

With the production of 500 thousand vitroplants per year, its installed capacity, the specialists assure that plantings in approximately 166 hectares can be reported with basic seeds of high genetic quality, also free of pests and diseases, with a potential yield of 20 percent above the traditional method.

The revival of this facility will make it possible to guarantee seeds to all production programs in the province, both for viands and other crops. Its operation, at present, is of vital importance for Las Tunas agricultural sector and its principle of working tirelessly in the production of food.
