Las Tunas electricity workers celebrate today their National Day

The electricity workers of Las Tunas celebrate their Day – January 14 - immersed in the Ordering Task and with the status of Outstanding Company at the national level for the fourth consecutive year.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- They stand out in the availability in generation with emergency generators above 98 percent and 95 percent in the effectiveness of operations.

In addition, Las Tunas closed the year with a total power of 11 MW of installed capacity in Photovoltaic Solar Parks, managing to generate and deliver 19.52 Gigawatt hours to the National Electric Power System (SEN), 107.60 percent of the designed plan. This, together with the 98 percent achieved in the availability of Domestic Solar Systems, translated into a significant contribution to the national economy due to the concept of fossil fuel not consumed and the non-emission of polluting gases into the environment.

Positive results were also achieved in energy losses and progress was made in the consolidation of the modalities of electricity collection through ATMs, remote banking, mobile banking (Transfermóvil and ENZONA), and the payment of the service from any Commercial Office of the province.

In addition to being part of the consumption plan, the entity from Las Tunas achieved favorable rates of interruptions at all voltage levels, which allowed the average interruption time per user to be less than 3.5 hours. Hence, the customer satisfaction index for the provided service remained above 85 percent. The 96-day term was met to satisfy requests for new services and the change from 110 to 220 volts; while the delay in compensating for damaged equipment did not exceed 40 days. Out-of-term population complaints remain at zero.

Despite the blockade and the economic effects on account of COVID-19, the company closed the year with the execution of 18 million 162 thousand pesos in investments (95 percent of the plan), standing out among them the construction of La Herradura 1 wind farm, which already has 20 cast bases for the assembly of the wind turbines and the completion of a large part of the electrical infrastructure.

These favorable results, and the fact of not reporting any fatality during the past five years, are the result of a well-trained workforce, equipped with the essential resources to guarantee production processes with a single accident, despite being high-risk company labor.
