The Cuban Science Day was celebrated in Las Tunas

The provincial event for the Cuban Science Day, developed at the University of Medical Sciences, recognized in this territory all the work carried out by the Public Health System in confronting the COVID-19, through the Provincial Directorate of this sector and the Provincial Group of Psychology.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- "The year 2020 was extraordinarily complex, in which we faced together great and unexpected health and economic challenges", stated the delegate of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) in the territory, Gisela Olano Felipe.
"Science and innovation, without a doubt, have been keys to reducing the impact and demonstrating the worth of these potential Cubans," she added.

The Cuban Science Day was celebrated in Las TunasDuring the event, the delegate represented the main contributions of Las Tunas science to the socio-economic development of the province and highlighted the National Program for Food Sovereignty and Nutrition Education in order to strengthen local production from the municipalities.

“The work in the province is aimed at promoting innovation in the agricultural, industrial, peasant and food sectors, with the challenge of stimulating innovation.

“Among the priorities for the year that begins is to make greater use of science and innovation, and to incorporate them more into the government's management; as well as achieving effective interaction between the University and companies, in addition to implementing the new science and innovation policies in all areas.”

There have been multiple actions in this area from different scenarios. In public recognition, maintaining sanitary measures to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, several workers and institutions were encouraged in the province, among which the Center for Information and Technological and Environmental Management, the Las Tunas Fishing Company, the Company of Computing Solutions (DESOFT), the Biological and Pharmaceutical Laboratories (LABIOFAM), ACINOX Stainless Steel Company, the Cuban Association of Agricultural and Forestry Technicians, the Plant Health Laboratory and several agricultural cooperatives.
