Las Tunas delegates to the Eighth PCC Congress  returned to the province

Las Tunas delegates to the Eighth Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) that concluded yesterday, April 19, returned to the province much more motivated and sure of the importance of current and future tasks.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The representatives of this eastern province were received by the members of the Executive Bureau of the Provincial Committee of the Party and the Provincial Council, along with a small representation of other cadres of the political organization.

“We have seen full confidence in the youth,” delegate Yanays Bridón Contreras said. We are prepared to continue this revolutionary process initiated by the Historical Generation. The head of the rehabilitation services at the Guillermo Tejas polyclinic, in the provincial capital, was also elected as a member of the PCC Central Committee.

"We have a great commitment," Manuel René Pérez Gallego, first secretary of the political organization here, said. "Our main challenges will be to strengthen the Party, the exemplary nature of its membership, and the role of its grassroots organizations."

Pérez Gallego, also a member of the new Central Committee, quoted the words of its newly elected First Secretary, Miguel Díaz-Canel, on the need to strengthen the convening power of the rest of the Cuban mass organizations and civil society. "In the province, we are ready to successfully face these challenges and move forward with the social achievements of 60 years of the Revolution," he assured.
