The vice prime minister Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca evaluated the implementation of the new measures to foster food production

The vice prime minister and member of the Cuban Communist Party's Central Committee, Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, evaluated this morning in Las Tunas, the application of measures established for the development of the agricultural sector.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The main actions to increase the food base of livestock, the management of the mass, and the fulfillment of the productive indicators centered the debate.

During the working meeting, which was attended by the highest political and the Government authorities in Las Tunas, along with producers and representatives of the Ministries of Agriculture and the Sugar Industry, several ranchers expressed their experiences and put on the table the main deficiencies that hinder the development of livestock in the territory.

Farmers and ranchers expressed their experiencesFrancisco Parra, from the Niceto Pérez credit and services cooperative, emphasized the actions they carry out to guarantee high yields in milk and beef production. “It is not about waiting for what they give us, but looking for it and doing it ourselves. We have positive results and we have achieved that with work, commitment, and desire to make things possible,” said one of the best farmers in the province.

Tapia Fonseca reiterated to those present that the results after the implementation of the recent provisions cannot be the same. “We must apply the new measures that put the benefits of the peasants and the state companies at the same level and, if necessary, make other decisions to eliminate more problems; the country will do it to stimulate food production.”
In the same scenario, the vice prime minister demonstrated the difference between the results of a peasant and a state unit; when the country's top leadership has created a strategy so that everyone can earn equally according to their productive indices, the differences are still notable.

“If a feeding campaign is developed with an emphasis on protein plants, diversification of productions, the food, and water for the herbs are resolved at once, the payment system for results is applied and the corporate purpose of each entity becomes flexible, livestock and agriculture can move forward,” Tapia Fonseca affirmed.

He also analyzed at the meeting the priority of increasing the production of small livestock and pigs, while he was interested in how the collection of buffalo and goat milk for the manufacture of derivatives is progressing. These are not yet used by the Dairy Company.

To finish the meeting, Manuel Pérez Gallego, member of the PCC Central Committee and first secretary in Las Tunas, stated that “immediacy in the application of each of these measures is already a necessity. You have to do what is appropriate and do it immediately and without hindrance. Here, it was shown that the work system of the province in the function of checking the agricultural programs has to be further improved, we are going to evaluate the entrepreneurs by the advancement of all their indicators, not only for milk and meat," he said.
