A little more than four months have elapsed since the opening of the store for the sale of inputs and equipment in freely convertible currency (MLC, for its acronym in Spanish) to the producers of the agricultural sector in the province of Las Tunas.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- According to its director Roberto Salas Pérez, the entity, which belongs to the Agricultural Supply Company, of the Logistics Business Group of the Ministry of Agriculture (GELMA, for its acronym in Spanish), has commercialized numerous resources that boost different production processes.

"We have sold boots, machetes, Codafol fertilizer, galvanized zinc, three types of detergent, tires, and electrodes. We currently have some of these items, sacks, socks, wrist and ankle braces for people with health problems.

"From a monetary point of view, we have collected eight thousand 480 USD. If there were other inputs, I know we would sell more, because many producers would come to buy them here to meet their needs in agriculture and livestock".

Salas Pérez specified that the small store collective takes into account the demand to request those inputs of interest to producers, whether they are state units or peasants associated with different cooperatives.

"When the producers arrive, if we do not have the input, we make the capture of the demand. The interested party signs it, taking responsibility for the future purchase, then it is processed through the group that supplies us with the materials. This is working.

"There are even private producers who have requested tractors, tons of animal feed, electric equipment, office materials, wire, and other resources.
Since a few days ago, in the province, the possibility of purchasing at GELMA's store was extended to 20 representatives of Self-Employed Workers who carry out activities in which the Ministry of Agriculture is the rector, which will also stimulate other work.

These non-state sector workers include animal breeders, flower growers, vendors, blacksmiths, sawyers, palm tree fellers, charcoal makers, gardeners, lumberjacks, and saddle repairers.
