In the capital city, the impact of tropical storm Elsa was practically imperceptible; in the south of the province of Las Tunas, the authorities confirmed the possible incidence of this hydrometeorological event.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The Cuban News Agency arrived in the southern municipalities of Colombia, Jobabo, and Amancio together with the Provincial Defense Council (CDP), where the actions to face the possible effects of “Elsa” were specified, and a tour of the "Amancio" evacuation centers was held.

In Guayabal, a community in the coastal area of the Amancio municipality, more than 300 tons of sugar were safely sheltered at the port terminal, and around 5:00 in the afternoon, there was a drizzle that increased slightly.

According to the Defense Council, food and the protection of resources were guaranteed; as well as the protection of people residing in vulnerable areas in evacuation centers and in homes of families and friends, which were built in Guayabal after the passage of Hurricane Paloma, in 2008.

A group chat on WhatsApp maintained a constant update of the information to more than 70 journalists, specialists, and leaders of the province, from where it was reported that “Elsa” could already be history for Las Tunas.

Wílber Ramírez Espinosa, a specialist at the Provincial Meteorological Center, pointed out through this platform that although Las Tunas does not report considerable impacts from the tropical storm, the hydrometeorological event can be taken as an important warning of the current hurricane season.
