Although up to this minute the province of Las Tunas reports tranquility, the agencies and the entire society as a whole have adopted the pertinent measures for the current phase of cyclonic alarm to avoid possible material and human damage, in the proximity of Tropical Storm Elsa.

Las Tunas.- The Science System develops an important work, whose most visible face is the Provincial Meteorological Center, where technical and service personnel monitor the weather minute by minute, to offer accurate and timely information to the Defense Council in the province and the population.

The Multidisciplinary Group for the Evaluation of Damages and Losses, belonging to the Local Delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Environment (CITMA), also offers necessary evaluations; which, after the passage of the tropical organism, is responsible for evaluating the damage in protected areas.

The work of protecting the documentary heritage in the Historical Archive also stands, where the assets stored there were secured.

The Young Communists League joins this proactive task, and more than a hundred of its members support the defined priorities in the popular councils while maintaining their work in the isolation centers for the care of suspects and positives to COVID-19.

To ensure the equipment and radio and television transmissions, technicians from the Cuban Broadcasting and Communication Company (Radiocuba) dismantled the communication antenna, verified and protected the communications network, prepared the tower keeper brigade in case of some breakdown, and verified the good condition of the essential transportation.

Similar actions are being carried out by the Electric Company, with an emphasis on pruning trees in places of greater vulnerability, and the protection of the equipment deployed in the photovoltaic solar parks located in the municipalities of Manatí and Puerto Padre.

In keeping with its social and economic purpose, in Puerto Carúpano, Puerto Padre, sugar destined for export was safely placed.

The experts of the Provincial Delegation of Hydraulic Resources maintain vigilance on the reservoirs that do not reach half of their filling capacity; meanwhile, Aqueduct and Sewerage workers moved the electric pumps located in risky places to safe seats, organized recovery brigades for the work after the passage of the storm, and began clean-up work to prevent flooding.

The health system does not neglect the fight against COVID-19 and guarantees, in the face of the new danger, the continuity of its services in each of the municipalities, and facilities of different types.
Likewise, the Provincial Blood Bank summoned a representation of the 631 special donors registered for exceptional situations, and with 497 units of erythrocyte concentrate ensures its response to any medical emergency.

In the same way, in the Guillermo Domínguez and the "Guevara" hospitals, in Puerto Padre and the provincial capital, all the resources have been provided for patient care and the protection of human lives and economic assets.

With the aphorism of what to foresee is to save, more than 8,000 people from Las Tunas have also been evacuated for residing in vulnerable areas. In agriculture, the collection of productions, and the protection of animals and resources sign the pressure for “Elsa” to cause the least possible damage.
