Vice PM checks preparations for the new school year

During a working visit chaired by the Vice Prime Minister of Cuba, Jorge Luis Perdomo, in which other members of the country's ministerial cabinet participated, two major issues were analyzed in Las Tunas: the already forthcoming return to face-to-face activities in General and Higher Education, and social prevention and care for people and communities with vulnerabilities.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Nílser Piñeda, provincial director of Education, highlighted that 20 schools are still linked to Health because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that they will be returned to the sector before October 31, to begin the school year of General Education throughout the territory on November 15.

He also stressed that the centers do not have complex deterioration in their construction structures, except for some; and also affirmed that food and transportation insurances are guaranteed. He praised the progress of the vaccination of the students; most of them with their complete cycle, and a small percentage in the middle of the process.

Marta Elena Feitó, Minister of Labor and Social Security, who had previously visited the Mexico neighborhood, in this city, assured that here the organizations are appropriating the necessary skills for social work, with certain implementation already.

She said that the most important is to know the essence of the recently approved policies on these issues in the country. "We are rescuing the founding principles of social work and in communities.

"We have to move away from the traditional welfare approach to prevention, and we need to focus more on transformative actions. This requires a lot of training, especially in community prevention groups, of which there are already 90 in Las Tunas.

The visitors toured educational centers, listened to the main concerns of the students, shared in neighborhoods and ratified everyone's commitment to a successful school year, and increased social work to continue, together, making Homeland.
