The commemorative act for the Cuban Science Day was held in Las Tunas, in which the scientific and innovation results obtained in the territory during 2021 were recognized.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Several institutions and companies were awarded, in the presence of the highest authorities of the province, for the performance of their duties in favor of the development of this universe; among them, the universities of Las Tunas and Medical Sciences, the Fishing (PESCATÚN) and Stainless Steel (ACINOX Las Tunas) companies, the Cuban Association of Agricultural and Forestry Technicians (ACTAF), and the LABIOFAM Business Group.

The Luis Urquiza Jorge Vocational Pre-University Institute of Exact Sciences was praised for the contribution of teachers to scientific work, as well as its projections of innovation. They also congratulated the Provincial Meteorological Center and the "Jesús Menéndez" Municipal University Center.

The Calixto Sarduy agricultural production cooperative received congratulations, as it has become a paradigm that advocates continuing to use science, technology, and agricultural innovation for the benefit of production processes. They use organic fertilizers on their farms and are currently completing a biofertilizer plant.

"Jesús Menéndez" was the most outstanding demarcation in the scientific activity during the period, and the contribution of the Youth Technical Brigades was pondered.

The Provincial Health Directorate obtained special recognition for the dedication of all its workers in the confrontation with the COVID-19.

Cuban Science Day is celebrated every January 15th. The date was instituted in 1990, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the Historical Leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, outlining the role of such a relevant sector for the development of the country.
