RodrEs mini-industry

The RodrEs mini-industry, from Las Tunas, has walked between the novel and the traditional since it was established as a small private company, a path that began with the construction of a burén and the request for modern equipment such as a vacuum packing chamber, to make juices.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- This is another result of the work of the consecrated and courageous peasant Aldo Jesús Rodríguez Prieto, one of the partners of this undertaking. After being recognized among those with the greatest contribution in the territory, Aldo is heading as a new actor in the economy from the community of San Gregorio, at Kilometer 3 ½ of the road to the southern municipality of Jobabo.

Rodríguez Prieto told the Cuban News Agency that the burén was inaugurated in the last days of December 2021, a real joy, because "RodrEs" aspires to make three or four different types of casabe, flavored, salty and sweet, something new that, at the same time, contributes to maintaining the tradition.

"I think the people may like it a lot, besides looking for alternatives due to the lack of flour that the country faces today," the producer said, who has been venturing for several years in obtaining canned products and other derivatives based on fruits, vegetables, and condiments.

"By establishing ourselves as a small company -he stressed- we requested a new freezing machine, a mat for automatic fruit washing and a vacuum packing chamber for the manufacture of juices, a quality product line that will surely be very successful.

"Thanks to an international collaboration project, RodrEs, now, has a holding and a freezing chamber, two important pieces of equipment that allow improving performance when working with natural foods," he explained.

Among the productions of the moment are coconut nougats, jams, juices, and nectars, although they have not abandoned assortments such as purée or seasoned pastes.

On its way as a small private company, the entity will be able to expand with many more prospects in the production and conservation of fruits, legumes, and vegetables; as well as in the production and conservation of poultry meat and eggs, according to the Ministry of Economy and Planning at the time of approval.

Aldo defines the project as a family business that he has developed together with his wife and one of his children, because he is convinced that it is the driving force to fulfill any dream, and they work to make them a reality.

Having fewer intermediaries gives the possibility of lowering prices, one of the advantages of being a small company, which, according to Rodríguez Prieto, makes the road much less rocky to continue favoring the family and the country's economy.
