Las Tunas Power Company indicated a group of consumption reduction actions for energy saving.

To minimize the harmful impact of the current energy deficit on the population, the direction of the Las Tunas Power Company indicated adopting a group of consumption reduction actions in the state sector.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- From the Energy Council, in which the strategy in this regard was designed, multidisciplinary commissions were established for the check and evaluation of a package of measures, among which the identification of entities, within the productions and non-basic services, which can be paralyzed from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, and 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm.

Among the directions given to public companies and institutions on the Balcony of Eastern Cuba were to analyze the adjustment of the working day to move it from the peak hours and reinforce the modality of distance work. " In the case of continuous production services, the power adjustment plans foreseen for this type of situation will be applied.”

Entities such as the Territorial Division of the Telecommunications Company of Cuba (ETECSA) and the Credit and Commerce Bank (BANDEC), had already announced the reduction of public service schedules in their respective offices.

Another indicated measure is the off the air conditioning equipment except those that ensure the operation of key technological equipment. The electric ovens and crop irrigation machines must also stop during peak hours. The drinking water pumping systems will readjust their operation where possible, to avoid starting in that period during the night.

The Power Company stressed that it is essential to disconnect the refrigerators, cooling equipment, and cold cameras in rush hour periods, as long as the state of conservation of the products is not affected."

To reduce energy use, the state sector was also indicated to lessen lighting, mainly in shopping centers and industries, except for those necessary for security. Additionally, the public lighting reduced its consumption by 386 kilowatts daily, after disconnecting 235 lamps; only the essentials for road and pedestrian safety are operational.
