Cuba 2022 Economic-Productive Day

The development of business rounds in all municipalities is the distinctive note of the second chapter of the Cuba 2022 economic-productive day, which until June 14 takes place in Las Tunas.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The opening took place in the municipality of Jobabo; it was chaired by Ledys Torres Guerrero, a member of the Executive Bureau of the Provincial Committee of the Cuban Communist Party, and Eduardo Walter, provincial director of Economics and Planning, as well as the main political and government authorities of that southern territory.

As in the previous edition, this Day aims to promote the productive linkage among the different Cuban economic actors and encourage exports, import-substitution, and foreign investment, explained Salvador Sariol Vistorte, head of the Department of Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment, and Cooperation International of the Provincial Government.

“In these fairs, everyone sees what we can achieve and, besides, we study the productive linkages that we can establish with the self-employed or MSMEs," Damiana Téllez, director of the base business unit of the Local Industries Enterprise (Vascal) in the municipality of Jobabo, pointed out while showing the products made in the entity she directs.

"It is a business opportunity," said Yuriel Pérez Borrego, an auditor of Agromercali, a small private business for the commercialization of agricultural products. The businessman pondered the value of these spaces to promote communication between entrepreneurs and the authorities to eliminate the obstacles that still prevent their development.

In that sense, Eduardo Walter Cueli, director of Economics and Planning in Las Tunas, said that there is still much to do so that the business rounds carried out in the heat of the event are that long-awaited communication and exploration space of new opportunities for links between the different economic actors in each territory. "There are still some cracks in the functioning of the economy in the municipalities and this event also contributes to identifying them and working on their solution," he said.

Walter Cueli, anticipated that they will sponsor contacts, by sectors of the economy, in which the correspondent MSMEs will meet with the decision-makers of the economic policy in the province; to "make a group of decisions to eliminate the obstacles that persist.”

During this week, participants in this forum will alternate between face-to-face spaces and contacts through digital platforms. Together with the aforementioned business rounds and opportunities in each of the municipalities, the ministers of Industries, Domestic Trade, Construction, Food Industry, and Tourism will talk with their respective state and non-state business guilds, through virtual meetings. At the same time, panels and workshops will take place that will assess the problems that affect the management of economic actors and their solution proposals.

This year, the Francisco Cabrera Metal Structures Company (METUNAS), the LUDEMA Furniture base business unit and the Territorial Division of the Telecommunications Company of Cuba S.A (ETECSA) are the candidates from the province for the National Prize for Economic-Productive Management, which will grant the National Association of Economists and Accountants of Cuba (ANEC). Analogous awards will be conferred at provincial and municipal levels.
