Youth Computing and Electronics Club bets for teaching of robotics

The opening of a specialized classroom is the first step in the development of educational robotics and electronics in Las Tunas, a mission of the Youth Computing and Electronics Club that already enjoys the acceptance of its main audience, children.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Ada Alicia Duarte Ávila, a specialist in Informatics Sciences at the Provincial Directorate of the Youth Club, told the Cuban News Agency that the arrival of a small module of materials made it possible to open a classroom for this branch of sciences in the provincial capital, where an instructor teaches basic knowledge.

Duarte Ávila explained that some twenty infants have already graduated from the first introductory course in 36-hour learning of which they made good use; although it is planned to incorporate young people and adults later.

Meanwhile, in the municipalities of Majibacoa, Jobabo, and Manatí, the first steps are already being taken to promote the teaching of this subject, especially in the latter, based on the design of a program that will serve as the basis for starting to work on robotics; as well as the training of instructors is sought, she pointed out.

Within educational robotics there is also knowledge about electronics and programming -the MSc added -, hence the Youth Club is committed to linking up with the non-state sector, to acquire materials that can be used for the design of didactic robots.

To promote the novel subject in this province of eastern Cuba, they aspired to be advised by the Mathematics and Informatics careers at the University of Las Tunas, as the result of an alliance that seeks to strengthen the development of this subject; a mission that revitalizes the work of the Youth Club that have just celebrated their 35th anniversary earlier this month.
