This World Environment Day join us in the global effort to #BeatPlasticPollution

Plastic pollution in ecosystems and its impact on the economy, health, and the environment is one of the issues facing humanity for a healthy and sustainable environment.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- In addition to the better management of single-use items, the actions around us demand that recycling, reuse, and care of spaces be promoted. Las Tunas does not escape this issue.

On June 5, World Environment Day will focus on solutions to plastic pollution. According to the United Nations Environment Program, more than 400 million tons of these goods are produced globally each year, half of which are intended for a single-use lifetime. Less than 10 percent is recycled. It is estimated that between 19 and 23 million tons of this waste end up in lakes, rivers, and seas.

Likewise, microplastics (particles whose diameter is less than five millimeters) invade food, water, and even the air. Single-use plastic products that are thrown away or burned not only harm human health but also contaminate all kinds of ecosystems, from mountain peaks to the seabed.
