A challenge mobilizes students and professors of the University of Las Tunas on social networks these days. The call was made by the secretariat of the University Student Federation of the center and is part of the tributes for the 25th anniversary of the institution to be held on May 15.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- “The challenge is for students, graduates, or workers of our center to publish photos of their time at the university accompanied by a message, always using the labels #25AniversarioULT and #RetoULT,” Dayron Martínez Rodríguez, president of the University Student Federation (FEU), told 26Digital. The student emphasized that although they will not be able to hold a traditional celebration, they found a space on social media to do so.
Martínez Rodríguez pointed out that for several months the FEU has organized multiple actions with the purpose of commemorating the date and among those that stood out the most was the creation of the 25 Aniversario Contingent, which moved throughout the province with the purpose of bringing the University to communities and institutions. “We also visited our headquarters in the other municipalities and carried out impact tasks in accordance with the needs of the country, such as support for the energy-saving program and sanitation work.
”It is a young university; however, these 25 years represent growth, prominence, development because processes that have a positive impact on the university community have been strengthened. The results obtained in FEU events, such as the national festivals of the class and of amateur artists, have raised the prestige of our house of high studies, as the student scientific movement has,” explained the youth leader.
He added that in the current circumstances the students from Las Tunas has not stopped and are immersed in activities such as food production, the purchase of medicines for vulnerable groups in the neighborhoods, the monitoring of the Virtual Inquirer and more than 190 young people made up a Detachment of Popular support. In the same way, they collaborate with the savings tasks led by the National Office for the Control of the Rational Use of Energy (ONURE).
