Activities marking Las Tunas City's anniversary will officially begin on the morning of September 23rd at Vicente García Park. The schedule includes panel discussions, concerts, heritage tours, bandstand performances, talks, tributes, exhibitions, as well as, of course, the traditional reenactment of the city burning -an event that marks its 150th anniversary-, and celebratory galas.

However, a key takeaway from the press conference held by organizers the day before is that this celebration —taking place against the backdrop of the complex daily realities the country is facing— actually began earlier and aims to touch upon many different facets of daily life.

Efforts are focused on revitalizing the La Martilla area and 26 de Julio Park, refurbishing the Fuente de las Antillas (Fountain of the Antilles), restoring planters and ficus trees along the town's main streets, and painting the facades of homes and businesses in the city center.

A new feature is the release of the first municipal ordinances of the current term, designed to provide a legal framework for regulating the city's cultural, social, and economic aspects.

These will be presented at the Municipal Assembly meeting taking place on Thursday at the University of Medical Sciences theater. The regulations are organized into five chapters covering topics such as solid waste collection, prohibitions in specific areas (primarily pedestrian boulevards), community order and discipline, among others.

A Business and Opportunities Fair will also be held during the festivities, with the call for participation still open to local economic actors. It is scheduled for September 26 and 27 on the grounds of the Las Tunas Hotel, with the significant goal of weaving together the region's already thriving economic fabric and spurring it toward new achievements.
