The Cuban duo got the bronze medal in the mixed relay of Modern Pentathlon

Accompanied by Juan Pablo Velázquez, from the capital, Diana Leyva Dinza, from Las Tunas, won the first medal of the representation of the Balcón de Oriente in the CentralAm & Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023, by taking the bronze medals in the mixed relay of the Modern Pentathlon tournament.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Based in the city of Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, the match crowned the favorite duo from Mexico, who completed the last test 44 seconds ahead of the Guatemalans from Centro Caribe Sports and led by one minute and 18 seconds to the Cubans.

In total, the Mexicans accumulated 1,357 points, followed by the Chapina duo (1,313), and Cuba (1,279).
Leyva and Velázquez completed a very good competition and reached the decisive laser race with chances of a better position, but they lost almost a minute with respect to the Mexicans and had to settle for third place.

In the individual fight, Leyva Dinza had occupied seventh place. The other athlete from Las Tunas at the Games, Marcos Antonio Rojas, achieved fifth place in the men's competition.
