Las Tunas leads Ciego de Avila 2-0 in playoffs

Baseball, like life, offers the threshold of glory in a matter of instants. Rafael Viñales, on Sunday, crossed the line towards the promised land, after driving in the two decisive runs in the 6x5 victory of the Lumberjacks against Ciego de Ávila, in the second postseason challenge.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The gaps in the control of Yasel Labrada's pitches increased the chances of the visitors, who scored four runs in the first third. But, then, an impregnable wall was established by Keniel Ferraz, after compiling several zeros on the blackboard.

The turn of events came in the sixth episode, through a rally of four runs. A hit by Yordanis Alarcón minimized the differences, while his brother Yosvani's first hit in the playoffs, a double, tied the game. With the complicity of fate, by granting him the privilege of the right place and time, Rafael Viñales drove both men in base to tip the balance in favor of the local team.

The luck of the seventh propitiated Jhonatan Bridón's uncatchable and added the fifth run for the Tigers. Even so, it was insufficient, especially due to the performance of the local relievers.

After a brief stint in the box, Osvaldo Cárdenas assimilated the defeat, while Keniel Ferraz received the merit of the triumph. Once again, Alberto Pablo Civil was awarded the rescue.

Next Tuesday the fight between the two teams will continue, at the José Ramón Cepero Stadium. Abeysi Pantoja's bet will be the left-hander Eliánder Bravo.
