Cuban players will begin their training for 12th Pan American Softball Championship

The softball players from Las Tunas Adonis Velázquez, Jonathan Leyva, and Héctor Castillo will fight for places within the Cuban team that begins its preparation for the 12th Pan American Softball Championship, to be held in April, in the city of Sincelejo, Colombia.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Castillo seems to have the best chance of winning the national jersey; however, for the young pitcher Velázquez and the shortstop Leyva, it means the opportunity to show their talent in front of the main coaches of the Island, besides gaining experience, after two calendars without domestic competitions.

The group of 29 athletes, made up of four catchers, nine infielders, seven outfielders, and nine pitchers, will seek to undo the period of inactivity when training begins on the 25th in Ciego de Ávila.

With a prize of five tickets to the World Cup, the Colombian competition appears to be the springboard to the world event, hence the importance of ensuring accurate physical conditioning.
