The accumulation of water in the area of the right field more than once hindered the celebration of baseball games

The sports facilities of Las Tunas did not suffer any damage after the passage through this territory of Tropical Storm Laura, despite the strong gusts of wind that at times hit different parts of the province geography.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- This was confirmed by the provincial director of Sports, Alexis Pérez Leyva, who assured that all preventive measures were taken and, fortunately, there was no need to regret losses of any kind.

The highest sports authority here also detailed that the province is waiting for the recovery phase to be declared, to resume the activities that were previously carried out.

In this sense, the most important has to do with the renovation work at the Julio Antonio Mella Stadium and the training in that very facility of the Las Tunas team, ahead of the 60th National Baseball Series.

Before the arrival of "Laura", works were held at full speed in the “Mella”, in repairing the exterior drainage to avoid the accumulation of water inside the park, especially in the area of the right field, which more than once hindered the celebration of baseball games.

On the other hand, the Leñadores (Lumberjacks) wait to begin their fourth week of training, less than 20 days before making their debut, at home, against the Mayabeque Hurricanes, when the new season of Cuban baseball kicks off.
