Las Tunas Agricultural Technical Services Company was one of those distinguished as National Vanguard.

April is a month of victories and a worthy prelude to May Day, International Workers' Day, which takes place in Cuba as a holiday, going beyond the work environment to acquire a popular dimension.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- It is, therefore, an opportunity to honor the current and accumulated merits of members of the working masses in all economic and social development sectors. In Las Tunas, the tribute reaches the protagonists through decorations, honorary titles, and medals.

Danuris Velázquez Ortiz, a member of the Provincial Secretariat of the Central Union of Cuban Workers (CTC), explained that collective and individual laurels reward perseverance, permanence, and outstanding contributions to the work of the Revolution and the defense of Socialism, which the working class assumes with dignity, faithful to the legacy of the founding fathers of the nation, and the decision of the majority of Cubans, despite many obstacles.

Due to its results, the Subsidiary of Disassembly and Construction Company converted into the Las Tunas Agricultural Technical Services Company; the Pedro Plaza Fernández food production plant, from “Amancio”; the Las Tunas Hotel, of the Islazul chain; and the Calixto Sarduy Arcia (Muebles Ludema) base business unit (UEB), from the agricultural, sugar, tourism and industrial sectors, respectively, achieved the National Vanguard Condition in 2023, Velázquez Ortiz reported.

Three workers deserved the Lázaro Peña Order, in its Third, Second, and First degrees, in that order, conferred on Cubans and foreigners for extraordinary work merits, important contributions to the national economy, or a correct and sustained attitude in the workplace. Meanwhile, the Jesús Menéndez Medal was awarded to 16 vanguards, four union leaders, and three labor groups.

Honorary titles are approved by the Council of State and the National Secretariat of the CTC, which grant the awards from the argued proposal of the unions; in all cases, they reward exceptional results maintained over time.

Other distinctions instituted by union organizations are imposed to encourage their members and immortalize their martyrs in commemorative events for the date of the world proletariat.

The provincial ceremony for the official presentation of decorations will take place on the coming 25th, in the Revolution Plaza; a traditional event on these April days that awakens emotions like it was the first time.
