UN Secretary-General Antonio GuterresUnited Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will arrive in the Vietnamese capital on Friday to attend the ceremony to commemorate the 45th anniversary of Vietnam's membership in the UN, the Foreign Ministry confirmed.

Hanoi.- The official welcoming ceremony is scheduled for 15:00 hours (local time) and at the end of the ceremony, Guterres will hold talks with President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

He will then pay a courtesy call to Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Guterres will then attend the ceremony to commemorate the 45th anniversary of Vietnam as the 149th member State of the United Nations, which took place on September 20, 1977.

On his second day, Saturday 22, Guterres will meet with the President of the National Assembly (Parliament) Vuong Dinh Hue, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, before visiting the National Meteorology and Hydrology Administration and the UN Green House One in the capital.

To conclude his agenda, the UN secretary-general will visit the Diplomatic Academy and the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, a work of great architectural and historic values recognized by the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a World Cultural Heritage Site. (PL)
