Xi Jinping was reelected General Secretary of the China's Communist PartyPresident Xi Jinping was reelected General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CCP) and other executive bodies on Sunday, during the first plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of that political organization.

Beijing.- As the internal rules stipulate, the Central Committee, with 376 full and alternate members, held its initial meeting the day after the closing ceremony of the National Congress to choose the members of the highest party bodies.

Apart from his ratification as Party leader, Xi heads the CCP Politburo Standing Committee and named Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, and Li Xi to stand alongside him.

He is also the chairman of the Communist organization’s Central Military Commission.

Since 2012, Xi Jinping has been the CCP General Secretary, which has more than 96.7 million militants from all sectors of socioeconomic life and also 4.9 million grassroots- organizations.

He was reelected to that position during the previous Congress held in 2017.

The CCP Central Committee officials were elected on Saturday, along with 133 members of the 20th Central Commission for Discipline Control, in the context of the closing ceremony of the 20th Congress of the party, which has been in session since October 16.

CCP GENERAL SECRETARY CONFIRMS CHINA’S ONGOING OPENING TO THE WORLD

President Xi Jinping stressed on Sunday that China will maintain its opening policy unchanged, create new opportunities for exchanges and rule out isolation because it cannot develop without contact with the world.

In a speech before national and foreign reporters, the president promised the continuity and reinforcement of both this strategy and the reforms of laws and institutions and recalled the socioeconomic benefits achieved since their implementation more than 40 years ago.

“The Chinese economy has great resilience and potential, its strong fundamentals will not change and it will follow a positive path,” he assured after being reelected General Secretary of the Communist Party (CCP) and leader of other important bodies.

Xi also pledged to work with the international community to promote peace, justice, security, and a more inclusive model of progress and cooperation.

On the other hand, he pointed out that the CCP will always seek to renew itself while leading the people toward realizing the aspirations of modernity in all aspects.

“A political party can only be invincible if it remains faithful to self-reform, even if it has had a glorious past,” he said, highlighting the dynamism and vigor of that group.

Xi called on CCP members to be alert and prudent in the face of future challenges, work hard for the people, and realize their dreams of a better life. (PL)
