Normalization of relations between India and China is in the interest of both countries as well as Asia and the world at largeNormalization of relations between India and China is in the interest of both countries as well as Asia and the world at large, Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said on Thursday.

New Delhi.- In a tweet after meeting with outgoing Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong, Foreign Minister Jaishankar emphasized that "peace and calm in the border areas are essential," India News Network reported.

During the meeting, he noted that the development of India-China relations is guided by respect, sensitivity, and interest.

Earlier this month, when speaking at the "China’s Foreign Policy and International Relations in the New Era" conference, the Indian head of diplomacy stressed that peace and calm in the border areas remain the basis of normal India-China relations.

Ties between the two countries were severely strained in June 2020, when a clash broke out between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley in the eastern Ladakh region.

Since then, India and China have engaged in talks at the military and diplomatic levels for the withdrawal of troops from the friction points in the border areas of eastern Ladakh and made progress in several areas. (PL)
