Members of over a hundred organizations demonstrated in favor of Cuba´s right to its sovereignty.

Solidarity groups called in New York for the lifting of the US blockade against Cuba, by projecting messages in favor of Cuba onto one building.

Washington.- On Thursday, the world demanded at the United Nations General Assembly by 185 votes in favor, two against, and two abstentions, for the thirtieth time, a resolution on the need to lift the economic, financial, and commercial blockade enforced for the past 60 years.

This action of friendship took place on Wednesday on the central avenue of Lexington, between 38 and 39, with messages such as “the world stands in solidarity with the Cuban people,” “Let Cuba live” and “Biden: vote for peace and justice.”

The tokens of support for Cuba from that US city have multiplied in the past few days with several demonstrations, such as the march from the iconic Times Square building to the headquarters of the United Nations on Saturday.

Carrying Cuban and American flags and banners to call for the lifting of these coercive measures, the members of over a hundred organizations demonstrated in favor of Cuba´s right to its sovereignty.

On Wednesday, several organizations and countries called to remove Cuba from the list of countries that sponsor terrorism and praised its altruism despite the US blockade.

When presenting the report on the impact of this blockade on Cuba, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez recently denounced that losses rose to more than 3.8 billion dollars between August 2021, and February 2022. (PL)
