Polar cold snowed three municipalities in Mexico City

A polar cold was felt last night and early this morning in Mexico City where it snowed in three municipalities, Tlalpan, Milpa Alta, and Cuajimalpa.

Mexico City.- The temperature, which kept the streets virtually empty on Sunday and early this morning, despite Christmas, is one of the strongest in recent years in the capital, authorities of Citizen Protection said.

In other parts of the city, such as Cerro de San Miguel, there was snow water and bone-chilling temperatures close to zero, to the point that the Secretary of Government, Martí Batres, called on the population not to go out and protect themselves from the cold.

Through Twitter, Batres shared images of the snow in the high parts of the municipalities of Tlalpan, Milpa Alta, and Cuajimalpa, the prevailing situation on the hill and other places in the capital, and the half-empty streets.

This forced activating the double alert for low temperatures and frost during this Monday where stagnant waters in ditches and small lakes and streams are on the verge of freezing. Of what is going on, the Secretariat of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection alerted that for the central municipalities of Álvaro Obregón and Magdalena Contreras similar forecasts are reserved for the three with snowfall due to temperatures close to zero degrees on Monday morning.
