Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov

Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov warned about the use of Ukrainian territory for offensive operations and cyber attacks by the West against Russia.

Moscow.- "We are not dealing with local hackers, but with the entire cyber power of the North Atlantic Alliance, which is making tireless attempts to break Russia’s strength with the help of pro-Ukrainian hacker groups," he stressed.

Syromolotov stated that the vast majority of cyberattacks against Russia are coming from NATO's territory: the EU and Ukraine. He also explained that after the neutralization of Ukrainian call centers in the context of the military operation, the number of fraudulent calls to Russian citizens decreased five times.

Google and Amazon Web Services announced in December last year the expansion of assistance to Ukraine, and the US space company Space X agreed to supply 10 thousand satellite Internet terminals.

"This year the main blow was taken by the public sector, including critical information infrastructure facilities and socially significant institutions," he added.

Russia's IT infrastructure managed to eliminate more than 25 thousand cyber-attacks on government resources and 1.2 thousand incidents on strategic infrastructure facilities.

"Recall that in August 2022, the head of the UK Government Communications Center Jeremy Fleming said that his department plays an important role in coordinating the actions of large companies in the interests of helping Ukraine," Syromolotov stressed.

According to the diplomat, the number of cyberattacks in Russia increased by 80% during 2022 intending to create instabilities in financial institutions. (PL)
